How To Avoid Misleading Saliva Ovulation Test Results

If it is your first experience, with Saliva Ovulation Tester (also known as Ovulation Predictor Kit – OPK, or Saliva Fertility Test), you may have some questions on how to use it properly. As with any device, you need to follow certain use guidelines to avoid misleading results.

In this article you will find some useful information that will help you to achieve most accurate saliva ovulation test results.

1. Different ovulation test results during the day.

Cause: Certain factors such as food, alcohol or smoking may affect the analysis of saliva, and show misleading results. The best time to test your saliva is in the morning, before brushing the teeth, eating or drinking. Therefore, as your instruction booklet suggests, we recommend only testing your saliva in the morning when you awake.

Solution: Only test your saliva first thing in the morning. Do not eat or drink anything before the test to achieve most accurate test result.

2. The picture is out of focus.

Cause: Microscope’s diopter lens is not adjusted.

Solution: Gently turn the lens to sharpen and adjust the picture to the desired clarity.

3. Ovulation microscope window appears to be blank.

Cause: While applying the saliva, the glass has been pressed hard with your finger and consequently your saliva has been pressed out.

Solution: Clean the optic lens and reapply saliva gently to the lens surface, taking care to avoid leaving any air bubbles.

4. Cloudy image in the ovulation microscope test window.

Cause: It is most likely that your saliva did not dry completely.

Solution: Allow several more minutes for the drying/crystallization process to end.

5. The microscope light does not turn on!

Cause: Expired batteries. Please remember that humid condition may cause corrosion of the batteries. We recommend to store your MaybeMOM” device in a dry place.

Solution: The light system is designed for a long-term use. Considering that MaybeMOM” Saliva Ovulation Test device should not be stored in the bathroom or in other humid areas, your batteries should last for at least 3-5 years in dry conditions. We do not have control over the warehousing conditions of retailers where you purchased the product, so we recommend to make sure that batteries inside your device are clean and dry.
